Tirgus Frequently Asked Questions

Tirgus

Frequently asked questions about Tirgus.

Tirgus has been in "the works" for a quite some time. The administrators of this site began production of Tirgus in early March, 2009. We plan to go "live" by August 28, 2009. However, that date is not firm and is only a target. If things do not warrant us going live on that date, we will postpone it.

Tirgus Forum, the online community of Tirgus, has been in operation For almost a week. The original name of the community was Sport Derivative Forum. Without the input and help of all of the members of this community , Tirgus would not have been possible.

Unlike typical stocks, our virtual sports stocks are not actual ownership of any particular team. Rather, Tirgus virtual sports stocks are non-expiring contracts that entitle share holders to dividends based upon the performance of the team represented by the shares they own. They derive their value from a couple of different spectrums.

First would be from on the field performance. The better the team does in the win/loss column, the more dividends they will payout over the coarse of a season.

The second one would be from their off field acquisitions. Some of these acquisitions will help one team while they could hurt another teams on field performance for the upcoming or current season.

Things such as ticket sells, TV revenue and merchandise sales have no effect on Tirgus virtual sports stock value. This is not to say that such items could not have an effect on the value in the future.

We plan to be open to anyone that has an interest in sports and stock exchanges.

You must however, be 21 years or older and provide legal documentation as needed to receive any prizes.

Details will be provided in the future as needed.

Tirgus currently has no support staff for this site. We are working with our sister site Tirgus Forum http://www.MyTirgusforum.com/.

We are currently updating that site to have a section for asking questions of other traders here at Tirgus.

In the mean time, ask questions there and we are sure you will get answers from the Administrators.

Frequently asked questions about Trading on Tirgus.

Unlike typical stocks, virtual shares are not actual ownership of a particular team. Rather Tirgus sports virtual shares are non-expiring contracts that entitle share holders to dividends based upon the performance of the team represented by these shares. They derive their value in a couple of different ways.

Things such as ticket sells, TV revenue and merchandise sales have no effect on Tirgus sports virtual shares value. This is not to say that such items could not have an effect on the value in the future.

The main use of our virtual shares will be to provide a vehicle for which everyone can have the thrill of owning a stake in a particular sporting event with the ability to move their virtual investment, at the right price, when their interests change.

Do this enough and be on the right side of the outcome enough times and you can earn prizes to increase your enjoyment.

You first have the option of typing in the teams ticker symbol in the Symbol Lookup and mash the Search button, example NFL:NE for New England. That will take you to their profile page to where you can view their profile, the current buy/sell orders and the trades of the team. Look for the links at the top of the profile page. You can access their trade page by using the "trade" link located there.

If you know the team ticker symbol, you can go directly to a trade page located by the tab at the top of any page and fill in your orders.

If you want to check out remaining IPO's use the IPO tab at the top of any page. That will take you to the IPO page where you can check for Pending, Available and Future IPO releases. Pending IPO's are ones that are in the cue being released. Once the release is done, any remaining IPO's are moved to the Available Page. Once on the Available page, you get a list of teams that still have IPO's remaining and can get to their trade page by using the "trade" link next to the team ticker. And I guess you know what Future IPO's mean.

To review trade orders on the site, use the Orders tab at the top of any page. That will take you to the Buy list first where the best available Buy order is listed for each team. At the top of that page there will be a Sell Orders link. That will take you to the Sell orders page were the best available Sell order will be listed for each team. Again if you use the "trade" link, it will take you to the trade page of the team.

Lastly, if your team is on the Top Active Shares list, you can use the little "t" link and be taken to the teams trade page.

Since we are not using brokers your order will be highlighted in green on any of the trade or orders pages.

Were applicable, the trade software prevents inappropriate trading activity. In addition, there is or will be reports and software safeguards that look for and flag questionable activity.

Initial public offering also referred to simply as a "public offering," is the first sale of stock by a private company to the public.

Currently we will offer the NFL. Our next league will be the NHL, but only if it is warranted. If our trader base grows sufficiently after the NHL season starts, other options will be explored.

Team Tirgus feels it is in the best interest of our virtual exchange to provide just enough shares to keep the trade windows active, in order to provide the most entertainment to our players. We want to provide enough options so, if priced correctly to the virtual value of the Dividend Reserve, all shares can generate some interest for the value investors or the speculative investors.

We feel to achieve this, less is more.

So get your friends and neighbors on board and lets trade!!

Currently all floats will be set at 15,000 shares for release at IPO.

This may be adjusted prior to IPO based on trader base at that time.

Yes there will be. Tirgus is going to limit each trader to an equal % of the float total float at IPO or 1% minimum. We are doing this in order to accommodate all traders that wish to have virtual ownership in a particular team.

After the IPO has sold out 100%, players may own up to 5% of any team.

We will be working with percentages that represent a particular leagues length of schedule. Our current structure is as follows and is subject to change by management of Tirgus in order to obtain equilibrium with the dividend reserves.

Currently Released Leagues
NFL 2.5%

Future Leagues
NHL 0.5%
MLB 0.25%
CFB (NCAA Football) 3.0%
English Premiership Futbol 1.0% NBA 0.5%
WNBA 1.0%
Finland Div 1 Futbol 1.5%
Australia FL & many Futbol leagues 1.75%
CMB (NCAA Basketball Mens) 1.25%
CBB (NCAA Baseball) 1.0%
PuraCup Cricket 3.75%
(Note: Above listed leagues may not be released in this order)

This FAQ will be updated accordingly as leagues are added.

Dividend payouts are calculated in this way:

40%** of the losing teams Dividend Reserve is taken and placed in the winning teams Dividend Reserve.

Then, the winning teams new Dividend Reserve is multiplied by the league's payout percentage and then divided by the float of that team. That figure is then rounded to 4 decimal places. This is your dividend per share figure.

You then take the dividend per share figure and multiply by the number of shares you hold. This number is also rounded to 4 decimal places. This number is the amount that will be credited to your cash balance.

Another way of saying this is:
round ((dividend reserve * league payout%) / float,4) * your holdings
it's rounded to 4 places for payout

For Example, Team A and Team B each have $878 in their Dividend Reserve. Team A wins. $351.20 is transferred from Team B's Dividend Reserve to Team A's Dividend Reserve. Team A's Dividend Reserve is now $1229.20. Then you take the Dividend Reserve and multiply it by the Leagues payout percentage. In this example, we will say the League is the NFL and has a payout percentage of 2.5%. Multiplying $1229.20 times 2.5%, we get a total Dividend Reserve payment of $30.73. Team A has a float of 50,000. When you divide $30.73 by 50,000 you get a dividend per share of $0.0006146. This number would then be rounded to $0.0006. If Trader A owns 1232 shares, then you would multiply $0.0006*1232 and the cash balance of Trader A would be credited $0.7392.

Please note that dividends are only paid out to share holders. On any remaining IPOs of a team and on the shares that Tirgus may hold back for future shorting opportunities, the dividends for these shares remain in the Dividend Reserve.

**The initial Reserve Transfer rate for Dividend Reserves from the losing team to the winning team will be 40%. This number may be adjusted if necessary.

For match events (games) the winner of the match is paid shortly after completion of the match.

For field events such as Golf and Tennis, they are paid out on the following Monday after results are posted on the respective league official website.

There will be no established set price that any virtual shares will be split at, however, we feel there will become a point in time when this might happen in order to fulfill site growth and needs for having shares available for new traders to the site.

We are currently working on the formula to facilitate this action. We will always except any ideas the trader base has. Feel free to send them to an administrator.
